Course Description: The course is primarily run at Shoreline Park, which overlooks the ocean, Santa Barbara City College and the harbor. The race has a wide start heading west toward the end of Shoreline Park. Runners will turn and head back past the start and down a long gradual hill to Leadbetter Beach. After turning they will head back up the hill past the start to complete a shorter loop. The course consists of a 2 mile loop and a 1 mile loop which ensures a spectator-friendly venue.
The course will be very clearly marked. Runners are to keep the yellow flags on their right-hand side at all times. Runners are to run down the hill on the right hand side of the bike path and up the hill on the grass. Let the yellow flags be your guide; they will always be on your right-hand side.
**Note: Spectators MAY NOT stand on the concrete paths in the park; the park is still open to local residents.

Team Scoring: DPI is an individual, grade level, and team level competition. A team plaque for the 1st and 2nd place teams will be awarded. Team scores are based on the THREE best places. The team that takes the sweepstakes trophy home for the year will be the one with the lowest combined team scores from their best THREE grades. To qualify for the sweepstakes you must have a team entered in each division. The fastest three runners from each grade per school are scored by their place in each race. There will be a 1st place plaque and a runner-up plaque awarded for the 9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th grade boys' and girls' team based on the lowest score for their top three finishers.
Individual Awards: Individual customized DPI pins are given to the top 20 finishers in each grade-level race.
T-Shirts and Snacks will be available for purchase at the meet. Each will be reasonably priced; please remind your team to bring cash for these items if they are interested.
Team Tents are discouraged, as there is plenty of natural shade from trees nearby.

Go North on 101& take Garden and turn away from the mountains. Garden will dead-end onto Cabrillo Blvd. Turn right and follow the road for about a mile. Cabrillo Street turns into Shoreline. Continue past the harbor and at the top of the hill you will see the park on your left.
(From the North/Santa Maria)
Go South on the 101. Exit Castillo Street (Harbor Exit). Turn right, go through the light at the top op the hill to Cabrillo St. Turn right onto Cabrillo. Cabrillo Street turns into Shoreline. Continue past the harbor and at the top of the hill you will see the park on your left.
Parking for buses will be at Santa Barbara City College or out at Dos Pueblos High School (12 miles from the racesite). Spectators can park in the city lot at Leadbetter Beach, in the City College lots if they obtain a parking permit at the kiosks located in the parking lots next to SBCC (permits are $3 for the day, or $2 for 2 hours).
To minimize our impact on local residents we ask that all spectators please AVOID parking in the neighborhoods across from the park and if you do park their please observe posted parking rules. There is NO PARKING allowed on Shoreline Drive along side the park. Please carpool if possible.
Buses may drop off and pick up athletes in the lot adjacent to the park, but may not park there. Buses are to park at Santa Barbara City College lot #3. The designated lot is down the hill (east) from the park, left at the first light, and another left into the lot. Parking reserved for buses will be at the far end of the lot and will be marked with cones.
Portable Restrooms will be available for this event. They are arriving the day of the event and are for our use only. We ask that athletes use these restrooms rather than the public park restrooms, because the park is still open to park-goers during the race.
Garbage/Recycling: Please be mindful of the garbage around your team's area and be sure that it is disposed of properly.
Entries: Entry process will be announced in August 2016.
Entry Fees: The cost is $275 for an entire team (boys and girls) or $12 per individual. Please make checks payable to Dos Pueblos High School or 'DPHS'. Checks will be accepted on race day, or you can mail them to:
